So the British Plus Size Awards 2015 was our first big night out for Perfect Princess Bridal. My fiancé and I had an absolutely amazing evening, meeting some beautiful people just as passionate about representing plus size women as ourselves. We were so proud to be supporting the event through our sponsorship as well as having the privilege of presenting Best Burlesque Performer. This was such a great award to sponsor as these beautiful plus size ladies really do show their curves with confidence and with a bit of sass!
For the evening I wore a beautiful dress by ASOS Curve which I totally loved. I had it hemmed and the shoulders taken in a little by our wonderful alterations wizardess Catherine. I also had the opportunity to wear one of our Polly Edwards headpieces, which I am totally in love with! Jonathan wore a lovely tuxedo by Moss Bros. (great practice for wearing a tuxedo for our wedding in September next year).
We arrived at the red carpet at 5.45pm where it was great to see our logo surrounded by beautiful plus size ladies. We had our photo taken and moved into the reception room for a drink. It was lovely to get a few compliments on my dress. We then had a look around where we saw many people having photos taken and interviews taking place on the red carpet.
We were then all told to take our seats. We were sat with the beautiful Hayley from Curves and Curls (who later won Best New Blog), Panache lingerie @LovePanache and lovely April @vampira246. Everyone was so lovely and it was great to meet other people working in and blogging about the plus size industry.
The meal was lovely, and so was the venue so thank you @RadissonPortman.
The awards started and the presenters Jeff Brazier and Chiara Aprea walked on stage. I was asked to go backstage as I would be presenting the 4th award, for Best Burlesque Performer. Backstage people were nervous but excited. I had the privilege of meeting the wonderful Fabia Cerra who won Most Empowering Woman. She was great and we had a little dance, which was fun. I also got to meet the absolutely stunning Letitia George. Her voice was stunning and she was absolutely lovely and a lot of fun! That was particularly great!
I was then called onto the stage where I met the presenters and had the privilege of announcing the winner of Best Burlesque Performer. Unfortunately Kiki Deville was not able to make it but the experience was still great, though I could not see a thing with all the bright lights.
We enjoyed the rest of the show where so many beautiful ladies, and men, presented and received their awards. Such a fantastic celebration. We ended the night after meeting Emily from BGP magazine who we really hope we can do some work with in the future.
All in all a fantastic night and a great way to meet new people and support those in the plus size industry. We can’t wait until next year.
